WRITING
Aldo Brincat is one of those rare theatre
practitioners who has developed as
considerable a following for his stage
performances, as for his original scripts.
His style of writing has been referred
to by critics as filmic, …sharp and
insightful, … with imagery that haunts
and moves,… hilarious yet full of
pathos and sensitivity. Aldo is able to
write on anything from social issues such
as racism, physical and emotional exile,
to spiritual and ethnic identity. Writing
from the age of 16 Aldo's first play was
performed at the school from which he graduated;
Orchids for Moira, a two-hander, dealing
with the hopes and regrets of life.

STAGE
PERFORMANCES
Aldo Brincat grew up in a family of stage
magicians. From an early age he was taught
the art of slight-of-hand. Winning two placement
awards for his performances as a junior magician.
But his love for performance grew to be frustrated
under the restraints of the magician's medium.
A talented ballet dancer and mime artist
in the making and after studying in Paris,
France under the legendary Jacque le Coq,
in 1989/90 Aldo performed and taught all
over the world with the International Swedish
Company Eternia Dans Teater.
Upon his return to South
Africa, he fused the often opposing worlds
of physical theatre
and the spoken word, forging a collection
of thrilling and entertaining productions.
He is a skilled, dancer, mime, magician,
circus
performer, (juggling five balls
and unicycle). His musical skills are basic
and limited to the eccentric Irish fiddle,
the harmonica
and the recorder. Aldo also plays the Saw.
His specialty and focus is as a writer,
performer, mask authority and youth worker.
He also considers himself an accomplished
cook!

TEACHING
Aldo Brincat spends at least a third of his year teaching students from
all walks of life and not necessarily in a classroom situation.Working
with scholars or corporate professionals, his emphasis is on self-confidence
and articulate communication through the medium of self discovery and physical
intelligence.
These classes are highly participative
and look deceptively easy. Aldo has taught
these classes in Scandinavia, Europe and
South Africa. For more mature and adult
students, his workshops are centered on
basic physical expression, placement and
spiritual rejuvenation.
In 2004, Aldo Brincat
had the honour of being the first Theatre
Practitioner
to be invited to fulfil the role of Artist
in Residence at the prestigious Kearsney
College for Boys in Botha's Hill, KwaZulu-Natal.
Within the year, Aldo collaborated with
the students
on 4 one-act plays, and a
major school production entitled Extreme
Sports Circus, all of which were remarkable
in their own rights.
It is hoped that in 2006, the 4 one-act
plays will be bound and published alongside
Aldo's other original play script.

SOCIAL
RESPONSIBILITY
Aldo's forays into the into the corporate areana of Product Launches and
Industrial Theatre have been very selective. Industrial Theatre is not
where his passion lies, although he is open to commissions. Projects that
focus on educational and social responsibility issues have captured his
imagination. His commission by the Durban Metro Council to write an educational
street theatre production for township residents was so successful, that
his three-month
contract was extended to 18 months with three satellite touring theatre
companies having to meet the demand for performances.
The project culminated in an invitation by The World Bank in Washington
to present a showcase performance for international political dignitaries.
Other commissions and productions have included a three-month contract
for Voter Education in South Africa prior to the 1994 elections, and a
Soil Erosion Awareness play, performed at the World Summit Johannesburg
2002 for the Multinational, African Gabions

YOUTH
DEVELOPMENT
Aldo Brincat loves nurturing and developing young performance-focused talent.
His annual youth project for senior school students has been an enormous
success. Students are auditioned and once accepted they are offered a professional
work experience that lasts for close to three months. During this time
a unique script is conceived and scripted.
Past productions include.

the patronage of a few distinguished and
generous patrons, both
